Oracle accepts submissions nationally and internationally in a variety of genres of creative writing and visual art. Feel free to view past issues online in our archive.
Published since 2003, Oracle is supported by the University of South Alabama Student Government Association, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Departments of English and Visual Arts, and it is available at no charge to students, faculty, and staff. The journal is student-run and uses a blind-review process with multiple evaluations of all submissions.
Our theme for this edition of Oracle Fine Arts Review is MOMENTUM. We are looking for nonfiction prose that will propel those who are stuck and slow those who cannot stop. We want words and images that can be a catalyst or a refuge. Find yourself running amongst the marathoners and resting with the weary.
Submission requirements: For each piece of work, specify what medium you used. Make sure your work is titled. Submit all work in CMYK, 300 dpi, JPEG format, and title each document “[Last Name]_[Title of Work].” Please submit each piece as a separate file.
Maximum submissions per category: 3
Note on content: Please include any relevant content warnings in a cover letter.
Failure to follow submissions requirements will result in a declined submission.
ETHICAL STATEMENT:
Any content that promotes racism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, sexism, fatphobia, ableism, and all other types of prejudice will not be accepted and/or published.
If Artificial Intelligence (AI) was used at any point of the creative process, then please refrain from submitting your work to Oracle Fine Arts Review.
We aim to feature emerging and established talent. We ensure this by requesting that submissions are done completely anonymously. First readers and editors will not be given any identifying information of any piece in the review process.
To encourage a range of voices, we request that anyone whose work was featured in our last issue refrain from submitting until the next calendar year (2026).
Oracle does not accept work that has been previously curated, in print or online. Submissions may be self-published on social media, blogs, or message boards, but cannot have been published in books, magazines, or similar collections open to the public.
Simultaneous submissions are welcome. However, we ask that you please notify us immediately if the work is accepted by another publication.
Failure to comply with Oracle’s ethical statement and/or submission requirements will result in an automatic “decline.”
